Legend of Zelda History
The Legend of Zelda (History)
Link and His Many Trasnformations over the Years
The Legend of Zelda - 1985 - NES
Where it all Began. This game started the series off to fresh...start, and seemed to be loved by millions as it held something new for the world of gamers. Princess Zelda has been kidnapped by the evil king Ganon and Link must fight through the land of Hyrule and get back the 8 pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom to save her from Ganons clutches.
The Adventures of Link - 1988 - NES
A Link to the Past - 1992 - SNES
On this Super Nintendo smash hit, Link is summoned by Zelda telepathically. He must go to her aid through the Light and Dark worlds and watch out for the evil wizard Agahnim, and Ganon who has returned to kill him. This game opened up a lot more multiple items which you can use, and the first appearance of the bottle which is used in most of the rest of the Zelda games.
Link's Awakening - 1993 - GB - 1998 - GBC
After his adventure in A Link to the Past (although the timelime can be argued) Link sailed off and went on his own adventure elsewhere, but there was a horrible storm, and his boat was destroyed. Link floated to an island called Kolohint and woke up to find another adventure upon him. This game marked the first Zelda game appearance on the Gameboy, and one of the first Gameboy games to be re-released in Color.
Ocarina of Time - 1998 - N64
The first 3D Legend of Zelda game, and it was spectacular. Possibly one of the best games ever made - Ocarina of Time begins with Link as a Kokiri who doesnt have a fairy. He is summoned by the Great Deku Tree to come forth and become a Hero of Hyrule. Link anwsers the call and fights over land, water, mountains, shadow, and on an Epic Adventure to try to save Zelda and destroy the evil king Ganondorf.
Majora's Mask - 2000 - N64
Link has defeated Ganondorf, or at least helped Seal him in the Sacred Realm. Now he goes off on his own adventure to find a special friend. Who is his special friend? The game leads you to believe its Navi, but i dont think Link would be that desperate to seek out that fairy. Anywho, Link's Horse gets a scare from a boy in a Mask, who ends up stealing Link's Horse and Ocarina. Link must go find him in a Parallel/Bizarro Universe of Hyrule called Termina. Fun Ensues.
Oracle of Ages - 2001 - GBC
Link is summoned by the Triforce to go fight evil in a distant land! An evil sorcerous named Veran has decided to screw up time, and the land of Labrynna and all it's inhabitants. The Maple Tree guides Link back and forth through time so he can put a stop to Veran's evil and collect the Essences of Time to restore order. Link plays a Harp, get's some cool items, introduced here for the first time such as the grapple shot and has help from some creatures along the way. Sweet Game!
Oracle of Seasons - 2001 - GBC
Link is AGAIN summoned by the Triforce to fight evil in ANOTHER distant land! Link travels to Holodrum to find Din, the Oracle of Seasons, dancing away. All of a sudden, just to ruin the fun (and to have a Zelda game with an enemy) General Onyx comes to town, and takes Din away and screws the Seasons up all over of the land. Link is destined to save everyone, so he goes and collects the Essences of the Seasons to restore the land, and destroy General Onyx. I played this one AFTER i played Ages, with the link up and everything. Overall, i perferred Seasons.
The Four Swords/Link to the Past - 2003 - GBA
A Link to the Past was re-released on Game Boy Advanced for many reasons. 1. - its a great game - 2. its fun enough to carry around everywhere. 3. - Nintendo could make another fun Zelda game to go along with it! Zelda takes Link to a pedestal with a Sword, when the Evil Wind Mage Vaati, takes Zelda away. Link takes the sword, and it splits him into 4 halfs. And now, Fun is about to begin. The Four Swords has a good quick storyline to it, but is also one of the funnest multiplayer games i've played ever. Every Zelda game has humor in it someplace or another, but this one certainly takes the cake, being that you have to get your friends to cooperate with you. Which makes for fun times. Only problem is - you can only play it if someone else has the game and a Cable.
The Wind Waker - 2003 - GCN
The single greatest storyline pick-up games i've played. For a while, like the rest of the world, i thought the graphics would kill the game. They, if anything, made it rock harder. Link's birthday is upon him, and he gets his new "hero" clothing. His sister gives him a Telescope, and he discovers a giant Bird taking a a pirate girl and dropping her in a nearby forest. Link goes to help and comes back, but the Bird who dropped the Pirate girl, mistakes Link's sister for her, and he must go with the pirates to save her. Through his adventure, Link finds out about Ganondorf (the same from Ocarina of Time), and his destiny to be a new Hero of this world.
Four Swords Adventures - 2003 - GCN
Sweet Multiplayer game, and sweet Zelda game! Link follows a Shadow of himself to the Four Sword, which splits those who weild it, into four seperate halves. Link goes through the entire land of Hyrule seeking to destroy his old nemesis - Vaati - the Wind Sage. Compete and work together with Link to the Past and Gamecube graphics combined, This is a more expanded version of the Gameboy Advanced Game, but it is even more fun. Connect with up to four players on gameboy advance systems to make sure fun ensues, which is ONLY possible with this sort of multi-player mayhem
The Minish Cap - 2005 - GBA
Link is at it again, when he is set on a mission to give a Blade to the Sword-master at a festival in Hyrule Town Market. Something as simple as that couldn't possibly happen unless something awful was about to happen, and so it does, as Link is set on an adventure of different sizes, when he meets a HAT named Ezlo. Link shrinks down to a size as small as a mouse, or rather, the size of the newly introduced race of Hyrule - The Minish people - which are always around in Hyrule, but so small you cannot see.
Link is set to restore elements of the picori sword so you can defeat Vaati and save Zelda. Same Formula you might say? well, sort of, but every Zelda game gives you something different to chew on...or a different way to chew it - lol. And this one is no exception. You now have things called Kinstones, which are critical to certain events taking place, which you must fuse with people that also have kinstones. All in all, it was a really really fun, silly Zelda game, and i loved it, and enjoy every minute i try playing to find more and more stuff. it even has GORONS!
Future Games - Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii and Gamecube) and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS)
The Twilight Princess is coming out at the launch date of Wii for both the Gamecube and the Wii. Phantom Hourglass is coming out towards the end of the year. Both look very good, and have definate potential to be some of the best Zelda games ever!
